Cerelink Needs TD's in NM

Cerelink Digital Media Group (CDMG) Needs Technical Directors (TD's) in New Mexico

December 8, 2008

Overview

Cerelink Digital Media Group (CDMG), a local digital media startup, seeks applicants for the position of Technical Director (TD). CDMG is building a team of talented digital media professionals, with long-term plans for a range of digital media production services.

Due to increased demand for movies in stereo 3D - in particular, animated movies such as the recent release Bolt, and the upcoming Monsters vs. Aliens, or the stop-motion animated Coraline - CDMG is partnering to produce several 3D stereo movies from animated features. This will be technically demanding work, resulting in extremely high quality content that will supplement the existing digital content for these movies, resulting in the release of a 3D stereo feature movie.

CDMG seeks TDs to complete this project, and who will serve as the foundation for the range of digital media professionals required for future projects. Each TD will receive approximately four weeks of on-site training on the full animation pipeline of an animation studio partner, and will then be responsible for rendering scenes from the movie from additional camera angles necessary to create the final 3D stereo film.

Responsibilities will include:

· Partnering with existing studio personnel and CDMG TDs to design, implement, and constantly improve CDMG's pipeline for completing a 3D stereo transition. This may include both process improvements (ideas about how to do something more efficiently), as well as technical implementations of improvements (shell or Python scripts to achieve production-wide improvements).
· Rendering scenes from the movie on a local render farm.
· Troubleshooting and fixing problems with the additional digital content required for the 3D stereo feature. The ability to diagnose and fix these issues is a major portion of the job, and will include issues with failed renderings, as well as 'incomplete renderings', in which the results obtained to not match the original feature film.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical and artistic skills, the ability to problem solve, and work well with a team, as well as an enthusiasm for digital media - in particular, animation. Of particular importance are the following skills:
. The ability to solve technical issues that arise with the pipeline.
. The ability to communicate and work well with a team - both locally (CDMG) and remotely (existing studio).
. A desire to work in a creative environment, and solve problems daily to get scenes to film.
. Experience with Linux, or other UNIX-based operating systems.
. Experience with shell programming.
. Experience with Python, or other scripting language.
. Experience with software used on a digital media production, such as Maya, Renderman, Lightwave, etc.

Experience

CDMG seeks a range of levels of experience for these positions, including:
. Entry-level. Someone with technical and artistic training, but with no hands-on experience with production pipelines.
. Experienced (Technical). Someone with technical training, and hands-on experience with production pipelines on some form of digital media.
. Experienced (Other). Someone with production experience who may not be primarily focused on technical areas, but who is familiar with digital media production, and who shows the ability to learn quickly in areas that are required by the job.

Contact

Interested applicants should send a resume to yolanda@cerelinkdmg.com, and expect a response when the resume has been reviewed.
